Star Wars: Kenobi
The greatest hero in the galaxy faces his toughest challenge yet: He must stop being Obi-Wan-and become Crazy Old Ben. For fans of movie-related novels like Darth Plagueis!
In this original novel set between the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV A New Hope, Obi-Wan Kenobi comes to the aid of the residents of Tatooine during his exile. But he struggles with his new mission when he realizes that protecting Luke Skywalker-the last hope of the galaxy-means setting aside his compassion and his Jedi warrior training, for the future of the galaxy lies not with Obi-Wan Kenobi, but with a mystical desert recluse known only by the name of Crazy Old Ben.

Fantastic story of Ob-Wan's time on Tattoine

I recently read the book Kenobi by John Jackson Miller and thought it was fantastic. If you ever wondered what happened to Obi-Wan Kenobi during his long stay on Tattoine then you should check out this book.

Obi-Wan spent many years living on Tattoine after his battle with Aniken.  He was not just hiding from the Empire but was also watching over Luke Skywalker as he grew up.

I found the characterization in this book to be excellent and you learn a lot not just about Obi-Wan Kenobi but also about many of the other citizens of Tattoine.  Living on the desert planet of Tattoine is a difficult life but there is definitely a sense of community and a lot of interesting characters live there. Obi-Wan finds himself trying to live as a hermit named Ben in the desert but constantly is pulled into the little towns affairs.  Early in the story Ben goes to a small general store in search of supplies and finds himself the center of attention as the town is raided by the Sand people.  The store owner, Annie, and her daughter then find themselves very interested in Ben after he helps save Annie's daughter.  The townspeople continue to talk about him but all Ben wants to do is keep a low profile so that he can keep guard over baby Luke.  There are also a few surprising villains in the story which I will not mention so as not to be a spoiler.

In the end this is quite the interesting story that keeps your attention the whole way through.  There is plenty of action since Ben always finds himself in the middle of some conflict and picks sides that are not obvious to most.  I would rate this book 5 stars for the great characterization and interesting story. The action is in a smaller setting than many of the Star Wars stories but I still found this book to be a surprisingly great read and would recommend it for all fans of Star Wars or science-fiction in general.
